Ex libris grognard

Two more much sought after tomes for the classic wargames book collection arrived today, courtesy of Mrs Millsy and a wedding anniversary.

Having been married for far too many twenty-three years now we rarely attempt to surprise one another with gifts because there's a serious change of coming a cropper with something already owned by your significant other. This in turn leads to conversations like this...

Mrs Millsy: What would you like for your anniversary gift this year? DON'T say more little men!
Mr Millsy: Ummm.... How about books ABOUT little men?
Mrs Millsy: [sigh] OK, whatever. You order them then.
Mr Millsy: Awright! [Clickety-clickety-clack www.ebay.com.au...]

And the rest is (miniature) history. The upshot is I'm now the proud owner of a pair of "new" books...

A true classic and one for any serious grognard's collection

One of a series on discovering all manner of things, not just gaming.
Happy days!

Cheers,
Millsy

Half term report

It's just a few days shy of mid-year and as I'm not inclined to paint much today I thought I'd try and motivate myself for the second half of 2016 by cataloguing all the items built and painted to date.

It turns out there's a fair bit of stuff...

Just the chariots...

Not bad for six months work. Tramp steamers and dark age forts take a bit of effort for starters...

Millsy

Space Marine Landraider Repairs & Repaint Complete

This little number has been a long time in the works and thankfully is now complete. It's a Landraider Crusader for my DIY Space Marine chapter, the "Angelicus Mechanicus".

I picked it up cheap at CANCON in January and have been working on it on and off ever since. As 2016 is officially the Year of Finishing Shit Projects at Chez Millsy I ploughed on with it and can now cross it off my to do list. [insert Woot! here]

Overall given there was a reasonable amount of repair work to do I'm pretty happy with the outcome. At various stages in it's life prior to arriving in my tender clutches it has been painted blue (presumably Ultramarines), red (presumably Blood Angels) and finally green (presumably Dark Angels). Quite a life and testament to the rigorous engineering principles of the Imperium's workshops...

I'm pretty close to "finishing" this project now too. I've got three Landspeeders on the desk at the moment in various stages of construction which will complete all the vehicles I want. There's a few odd figs to do as well but they're "just because I can" type of things so will likely get put away for a while at least.

Cheers,
Millsy

Savage Orc & Goblin Army Gallery

It's DONE.

"Waaaagh Millsy!", my Savage Orc and Goblin horde is finally complete! I've created a dedicated army gallery page so if you'd like a look head over here.

Thanks to everyone who has commented, offered advice and provided encouragement over the life of the project. It's been much appreciated and was a massive boost when the unending green tide seemed ripe to overwhelm me. :-)

Cheers,
Millsy

Sandbags and workbenches

It's raining, it's pouring. Quite literally pouring. As I type this at 5:17pm we're just shy of 4" of rain since midnight. Yesterday was just as wet. What does this mean? Lot's of painting and overexposed photography, that's what!

Since Saturday morning I've knocked off another four Oldhammer Chaos Warriors...

I've also been working away on a second-hand 40K Landraider I picked up at CANCON. Some time ago it looked like this...

...and it now looks like this...

Admittedly it looks like I've turned it 180 and painted a couple of bits black. You'll just have to take my word for it that a LOT more has been done.

Cheers,
Millsy
