More Boxers and more Finished Boxer Terrain

More progress on Boxers and terrain to go with them this weekend. I've managed to finish off the bamboo stands, cherry trees and template dogs I started last week. I've also completed another 12 Boxers with melee weapons and 12 with firearms. Just basing to go on those which is a doddle and will get done through the week.

In total I have 10 cherry trees and 6 stands of bamboo but I've saved about 25% of the bamboo for inclusion on various other terrain items like gardens. The cherry trees seem pretty fragile and the blossom falls off quite readily but I can save it up and re-glue later I guess.

Next up painting-wise I think it will be some Kansu Braves and maybe the cannon. I need a break from painting so much variation. It takes a lot longer as you're constantly switching colours, cleaning up and checking you're not duplicating colour schemes too often. Something uniform will be a pleasant change!

Paint Table Saturday

Inspiration and consequently perspiration has been somewhat lacking at Chez Millsy of late. Nothing especially wrong, just whenever I stand at the door to the room where I paint I can also see the couch in front of the telly. And, well, the rest as they say is history.

Today, however, things have been different. A couple of packages du jour this week have perked my interest and I'm back into the 55 Days at Peking project with a vengeance. Today I've been painting up more Boxers...

And also some Temple Dogs from Ainsty Castings...

I've also put together a bunch more greenery and er pinkery(?) in the form of stands of bamboo and cherry blossoms, having seen Mr Awdry's wonderful effort on same...

Finally I've picked up a handful of beads which will do nicely as planters and/or lanterns...

That's it for today. Back to the paint table!

Epic Armageddon City Terrain Repairs

Last weekend Russ and I played a game of Epic Armageddon and it was quite apparent that our city terrain was looking the worse for wear. It was based on thin card which had then had sand, black paint and a dry brush applied. In theory all good but the card was splitting, turning up at the corners and some of the building were coming free and suffering real life damage.

I decided I needed a break from all things cork so I spent a couple of mornings and afternoons pulling it apart, fixing to new timber bases and redoing the groundwork that surrounds it. There's still some work to go with some form of weeds / grass but otherwise it's good to go again now.

I've also sold off a couple of units of Empire plastic knights (for a great price!) and reinvested in a new Imperial Guard army. It'll be either Steel Legion or Minervans... or probably both depending on my mood :-). I had no plans whatsoever to do this until Russ and I played a single game. Obviously being on leave with too much thinking time is a dangerous thing. Like I didn't already know that...

So now its back to the Boxers, at least until some teeny tiny tanks arrive in the post.

Cheers,
Millsy
