New Project: Konflikt '47 Weird War II

OK, so mistakes were made. The "no new projects until I've finished some existing projects" resolution kind of got lost in the shiny madness of new toys and interesting fluff. I'm blaming my mate Pete. Yeah, that's it. It's HIS fault.

I've always been pretty interested in the whole Weird War II thing but never had a sufficient reason to pursue it until Pete mentioned he'd been looking at Konflikt '47. That's Warlord Games' take on the the whole "What if things are not what they seem and WWII goes off the historical rails?" idea. A couple of days of reading and pondering and a US Starter Set plus a couple of upgrade blister were in the post. They arrived this week and today I finished painting up my Heavy Infantry, Heavy Bazooka Team (both in powered armour) and also a Light Walker mech thingy.

The models are absolutely lovely! Wonderfully sculpted, very characterful and they go together very nicely indeed. Painting is a breeze and great fun to boot.

So my first three units are done and next up is my M4A9 Sherman-T (the T is for Telsa! Woot!) which is already assembled and primed. It comes with a normal turret too so you can do proper WWII which is pretty nifty. Following that there will be some Doughboys and I will be done with my starter army.

Fantasy Skirmish Warband

I know right? Rumours of my demise and all that but hey, I've actually gone and posted something!

Despite the near deafening silence hereabouts things have been happening. Admittedly mostly spending money and going places but some work has been going on as is evidenced by the following.

These chaps are my new fantasy skirmish warband, good for Frostgrave, Mordheim or whatever. Mostly GW plastic orcs, upgraded with some Mordheim, Savage Orc, Space Ork and Empire bits.

The night goblin shaman is a metal fig, undergoing his apprenticeship in all things tribal magic from his larger (and substantially thicker) mentor.

Now if only Ev will finish his warband we could get some games in :-)

Hopefully things will pick up around here now. I've got some very nearly finished Epic Imperial Guard Sentinels on the painting desk so they should appear on the weekend.

15mm Napoleonic 3rd Hussars

For a little while now I've been pottering away finishing half painted units that have been lurking about the workbench. Quite why I am interested in this all of a sudden over doing some more focused project work I don't know. I'm not overly concerned about losing my mojo as I wouldn't be painting anything if that was the case and the upside is that all these half painted units are finally getting the attention they deserve.

This week I've been finishing a unit of AB Miniatures 15mm Napoleonic Hussars, painted up as the 3rd Hussars which served alongside the 10th and 15th Chasseurs in the 3rd Division of Ney's VI Corps at Friedland in 1807.

Anyway, time for a couple of really poor photos :-)

On the painting table at the moment at a bunch of orcs and goblins for a half finished (there's that word "half" again!) to go with the ones I worked on way back in 2015. These will be a Frostgrave / Mordheim warband when completed.

Empire Altdorf Halberdiers

As promised last post, here's the latest addition to my Warhammer Fantasy Empire army - a unit of 24 halberdiers in the service of Altdorf. This brings me to a total of 60, in two units of 24 and a detachment of 12, more than enough to form a solid core of foot troops. I really must remember to do the basing on my unit trays at the same time as the troops themselves...

On the painting table at the moment is another of my (many!) half-finished units in a unit of French 3rd Hussars for my 15mm Napoleonic project. They should be completed this weekend. Woohoo!

Epic Imperial Guard Steel Legion additions

I recently painted a large Imperial Guard army as part of the 8th edition of the Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge.

Now as both you and I well know, an army is never really *finished* despite whatever spurious claims we might make at certain points along the way. So it was always kind of inevitable that I would add to the army and guess what? It's happened already!

Two extra Baneblades turning a lone chappy into a full squadron.

Another squadron of Shadowswords, this time the old skool first edition versions. They look absolutely tiny compared to their Forgeworld resin brethren!

And finally another squadron of Griffons. At 50 points a pop they are great for soaking up hits meant for more dangerous and expensive things like Leman Russ.
