Lead Painter's League 5 - Rnd 9 & 10 notes

So here is the pic for round 9

The Figures

The Deep One Hybrids are the 2nd Hybrid set from Brigade games, I added a hand holding a pistol to the fig with a club from a necromunda Juve fig of all places. The rest of the figs are RAFM from the Deep Ones II pack. As before all figs were painted with acrylic paints being a mix of humbrol, vallejo, then magic ink (sepia) wash.

As usual finished with the gloss varnish, but this time 2 people actually said they liked it !! thanks guys

Taking the photo

I took the photo using a Pentax K-7, with a 90mm lens on a 3 sec exposure (with a cable release) at F36 using natural light. I set the white balance to cloudy but the weather on the day I took this pic was pretty poor and the pics were very dark, even after editing they are pretty murky I think which is a pity because I thought that it was a pretty good compostion.

So here is the pic for round 10

The Figures

The last one ! All figs are from crusaders Gladiator range including "Gladiator to the Max" modelled after a certain Australian actor :-) I think these are some great figs, mostly with historically accurate equipment which I really like. As before all figs were painted with acrylic paints being a mix of humbrol, vallejo, then magic ink (sepia) wash.

The varnish this time is vallejo satin !
That's right NOT gloss

Taking the photo

I took the photo using a Pentax K-7, with a 90mm lens on a 2 sec exposure (with a cable release) at F36 using a mix of natural and Fluro light. I set the white balance to cloudy. This was taken the same day as the previous pic and was so dark that I had to add the fluro lights, luckily that yellow matt looks good under the these lighting conditions. I'm a bit disappointed with the compostion of this pic with the impression of the white wall and yellow sand just not working that well.

all done at last

thank you and goodnight !
