Army Gallery - Lizardmen (15mm Fantasy)

Hi All,

This week I've speed painted another fantasy army in between other stuff. I have to say the whole lockdown thing is doing wonders for my painting output! Check them out here...

Painting Challenge V Week One

Well, my first week chained to the challenge painting table is behind me and I'm pleased to report very solid progress indeed. In fact, I'm currently sitting top-o-the-heap with 430 points to my name and well on my way to reaching my 2,000 point target.

This past week I've completed a total of three entries as follows:

28mm English Civil War Dismounted Dragoons x 24

28mm Warhammer Fantasy Lizardmen Skinks x 20

15mm Flames of War Naval Infantry x 102

My first bonus round entry has been submitted and I've already got another entry 90% complete to be posted on my rostered day this Thursday coming. Stay tuned for more...

Cheers,
Millsy

2000pts of 40K Orks for a 40th Birthday Boy

This is a rather a special post. As one of two of our followers may know we have a tradition here at C&G to paint an entire army for a club member as a 40th birthday present. This time it was the turn of Michael "I've never actually painted a whole Ork" Russell and he chose greenskins as his painting present.

Yesterday was the delivery date and we duly presented the completed army to Russ as part of the celebrations. Here are some pics of the man himself and his new horde. Apologies for the image quality but the lighting and dark background made decent photos very hard to achieve. Painting by Millsy, Ev, Nug and Bob. Basing by Cory...

They're actually painted? Totes awesome!

When it was my turn last time and Russ went out of his way to do a couple of extra presents for me so I felt obliged to do the same for him. First some Warhammer Fantasy Skinks with blowpipes...

And secondly some period-agnostic 1/1200 islands and coastline for the various naval games we play. This was designed to fit entirely into a presentation / storage box in two layers. The various pieces are composed of MDF, foam, tile grout, cork bark, toothpicks, paint, flock and clump foliage....

An innocuous looking box

With a top layer of islands

And a bottom layer of islands and coastline

And finally here are the C&G lads all together (minus Ev unfortunately)...

Left to right: Cory, Marcus, Ian, Russ, Bob, Nug, Graeme, Millsy and James

So that's another 40th over and done with. Happy Birthday Russ! Next up is Nug in roughly 12 months time I believe. Time to get the brushes out again :-)

Edit - I neglected to mention that my contribution included some 70 odd infantry. I painted about 2/3 of them during Curt's Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge but couldn't reveal the fact as it would have wrecked the surprise!

Lizardmen Salamanders

I'm in a bit of a painting frenzy at the moment. I made myself a promise to clear all the half-finished projects from the paiting table before Christmas and I'm very nearly there.

This is a couple of older style Salamaders for my WFB Lizardmem army. Initially I wasn't sure if I liked them but they're growing on me.

You can click on the images for larger versions as usual.

Feel free to tell me what you think...

Edit: You can include my spelling in that feedback. If you can't sleep and get up early to blog you really should use the spell checker before posting ;-)

Warhammer - Tetto'Eko - Astromancer of the Constellations, The Beholder

This little guy has been a work in progress for some time. He's Tetto'Eko - Astromancer of the Constellations, The Beholder - a hero from the Lizardmen army.

I kitbashed him from leftover bits and pieces from the Stegadon box, a couple of 40mm square bases, a flying stand, and some plasticard offcuts. Most of the effort was in the thinking and painting. Actually putting together was relatively simple by comparison.

Resting at his feet is a crystal skull, like that found in the jungle in Belize. To me it looks quite crystal-like in the photos. Not so much in reality ;-)

Anyway, I hope you enjoy him. Remember to click for larger versions of the images.

Lizardmen Stegadon

Another update for my growing Warhammer Fantasy Battle Lizardmen, my Stegadon. "My Spikey" was a present for my 40th from the Canister & Grape lads and his been sitting accusingly on my shelf for over a year now, taunting me with his very incompleteness.

I have to say this is one of the most amazing models I've ever assembled and painted. The detail and complexity are quite something and near drove me mad at some points along the way. If I ever meet the sculptor I plan to congratulate him on his ability and then punch his lights out in the most respectful manner possible.

You'll note the empty space towards the back of the howdah. This is so I can swap his "driver" to suit the occasion - skink priest, chief or plain old spear guy. The extra benefit is that the remaining bits are more than enough to assemble a rather tidy palanquin for Tetto'eko.

Lizardmen Cold One Riders

Hi All,

These have been in progress for quite a while. The cold ones were so much effort that the riders got put on hold. I just couldn't muster the effort to finish them off in one go. Thankfully with a few days off at home the inspiration returned and I completed them last night.

Remember to click for larger versions. Let me know what you think...

Mmmmm.... Stone drumstick. My favourite!
